Website Frequently Asked Questions
Having a website designed by Concepts11 is a
very easy process. However, you may not know
exactly what you have to do to get your site
up and running. Our Frequently Asked
Questions for website design can help guide
you toward the creation of your site and
hopefully eliminate any concerns or
uncertainties you may have.
What is the difference
between a web site and a web page?
A web site
consists of one or more web pages
designed specifically for viewing on the
Internet. A site is a collection of all the
pages organized into
sections so they can be easily viewed; it is
all of your pages linked together. A site
always has a "Home" page or Index page. This
is the page that displays when someone types
in your web address. A site does not have to
have any more pages than the index page but
it typically does. Some of the more common
additional page names are:
- About Us
- Contact
- Products
- Services
- Testimonials
The size of a website is
normally determined by the amount of content
intended to be displayed. Some sites contain
thousands of pages while the typical site
can range from 15 pages to as many as 50 or
more. In a good design, the length of each
page is typically no more than 2 screens
tall (the page you are currently viewing is
a typical exception to this design rule).

Why have a web site?
There are generally three
reasons why someone would want a web site
and each one is addressed differently during
the design phase. The three most popular
reasons for creating a web site are:
- Information Provider
- Product or Business Promotion and
Sales
- Entertainment
We deal primarily with the
type of websites where information needs to
be displayed clearly and quickly. We also
develop sites for businesses looking to
promote their products online. The
entertainment type web sites usually contain
lots of flash and are geared towards
browsing with a high speed connection. The
flashy sites should be reserved for the
entertainment sites because a lot of flash
and movement on the screen can limit one's
ability to find information in a hurry. A
business site should be very clean and
easily navigated.

What do I need to do to have a web site created?
The very first thing that you need to determine is exactly what is it that you
hope to achieve as a result of having an Internet presence. Do you have a
specific purpose in mind for your site? Do you know what you want to name your
site? Once you have answered these questions, we can then search the domain
registrar for you and make sure the name you selected is available. This search
is a free service provided for our clients. We can then register your domain for
you or you can register it yourself if you would rather do that. Domain
registration should be one of the first actions performed so that the overall
design can incorporate the address into the different pages. Only after these
steps have been completed should we begin to develop a layout and overall design
concept. Specifics like color scheme, navigation strategy, number of anticipated
pages and content possibilities are discussed. Once all the preliminaries are
done we can begin the actual design work.

How do I get my website hosted?
Currently Concepts11 does not offer hosting services. However, we will take care
of setting up the hosting for you if you desire. We do not care what hosting
service you choose, although one of our favorite hosting companies is Host
Gator. Their response to issues and their up time are very, very good. In order
for us to handle the hosting arrangements for you, all you need to do is provide
a valid credit card and we will take care of the rest. If you already have a
registered domain name and have it "parked" somewhere we will arrange to have it
transferred to the host company of your choice.

How much will I need to be involved with development and
design.
This is your web site. You know more about the topics you wish to cover than we
do, plus you may have a specific look and feel that you want to accomplish when
the site is ready. Therefore, you will be involved in the design process. Prior
to actual construction of the site you will be asked to complete a form
detailing the desired look and feel of the new site. This form can be completed
online and will provide us with a lot of information that will be helpful during
the initial construction.

Who develops the images and the text for the site?
It is expected that the owner of the site will supply all content specific
images and text for the site. Concepts11 will supply banner art and other web
page specific images for navigation and general web site structure, however if
we are expected to develop or search for other content specific images there
will be additional charges

How much does a web page or site cost?
Because a web site can vary in size, after the development of the Home page and
three additional pages we charge by the page. This way the actual content and
how much of that content becomes the determining factor in the cost of a web
site. The more pages needed the more the site will cost. Please visit our
pricing page for prices on all of our web design services including web design
and site maintenance.
